"Empire's" explosive, jawdropping two-hour season 1 finale kept viewers glued to their seats until the very end, thus fans cannot help but be excited about what is in store for Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), his family, and the entire hip hop music and entertainment company in the show's next season. 

As early as now, series co-creator Lee Daniels is already teasing fans on what's to come in "Empire" season 2. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Daniels admitted that he is currently writing the roles for multi-media superstar Oprah Winfrey and big shot singer Common for the new season. Daniels confirmed Oprah's appearance in the show during one of the screenings of the high-rating musical drama series in Los Angeles. 

This will not be the first time that Daniels and the media mogul will work together in a project. Earlier, the two collaborated on "Lee Daniel's The Butler," and there are talks claiming that she will also be featured in his next biopic project that will star Mike Epps. 

Meanwhile, Oprah's "Selma" co-star and Academy Award-winning singer/actor Common is also reported to be joining the cast of "Empire" next season. During a press junket for an event held in New York, Common shared that he is very interested in joining the show. 

"I see Lee at the gym and they shoot 'Empire' in my hometown of Chicago. I would be a part of it if it was something that was the right character. I'm all about being a part of really quality things," Common said. 

"Empire's" first season broke the ratings records each week. During the penultimate episode alone, the show was viewed by almost 15 million viewers. This is why it is not surprising that the show's production team is already working hard in creating its second season. 

Aside from Howard, the show's star-studded cast includes Taraji P. Henson as Lucious' cunning ex-wife Cookie, while Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett, and Bryshere Y. Gray play their sons Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem.
