"Empire" actress Taraji P. Henson, who plays the role of Cookie Lyon in the TV drama series, has inspired one of her fans to stop trying to hurt or even kill herself. When the fan credited Tajari for it, the Christian actress shifted her attention to God as she showered her with words of encouragement.

The fan, who goes by the username TajarixOnika, tweeted to Henson, "You might not even know, [you] saved me from myself. I used to cut [myself] but [you] gave me the power to stop."

Henson seemed to have been touched by her fan's testimony. She wrote back, "Baby [you are] important! GOD hand picked [you to be] here! [You] have a purpose! KNOW THAT GOD IS! No more hurting yourself."

Despite the crazy demands and challenges of Hollywood, Henson said she is able to maintain her sanity because of her Christian faith. She said during a 2014 interview with The Christian Post that God has a special place in her life, and she is not ashamed to share it with others.

"Anybody that follows me, that knows me, knows that I love the Lord, and I'm not afraid to say it. I'm not afraid to tweet it, I'm not afraid to talk about it in the interviews," she said.

"It [faith] has definitely kept me sane and continues to keep me sane, because I know how I got here. I moved to California with $700 in my pocket with my son and a dream and faith," Henson said. "And every time a door would close I would pray to God, like, 'I know you've got a plan for me because I'm still here.' There's a plan for me and I believe in that."
