England will play Denmark on Wednesday night as they commence their build up to this summer's World Cup in Brazil. England manager Roy Hodgson has just two matches left before he has to name his 23 man squad for World Cup 2014, and he will likely be looking at a number of squad fringe players in the coming games.

With less than 100 days now left until the World Cup kicks off, Hodgson must start to gather the team that he believes can take England through to the latter stages of the tournament.

Expectations on this England team have probably not been as low for decades, however, getting out of the group stage is a must, and many – including Hodgson himself – will be hopeful that England can get to play at least a few knock out games.

Hodgson must name an initial 30 man squad on May 13, and that will be reduced to his 23 man squad that will make the trip to Brazil on June 2. That will be just three days after England play Peru at Wembley.

After the squad is named, England will also have preparation games against Ecuador and Honduras prior to their opening World Cup game against Italy on June 14

Many players will be desperate to get a place on the plane for Brazil this summer – with the chance to play in a World Cup in the South American country a dream for most football players.

Meanwhile Denmark failed to qualify for Brazil 2014, and they instead will be preparing for the Euro 2016 qualifiers which start following the World Cup this summer.
