England will play Norway in the Women's World Cup 2015 football Round of 16 tonight, with a spot in the quarter finals up for the taking at Lansdowne Stadium in Ottawa on Monday. England will be seeking to win their first Women's World Cup knock out game on Monday. They have never made it past the quarter finals before, however, this year the tournament has been expanded from 16 to 24 teams, meaning there is an extra knock out round - the Round of 16. They will be hoping to gain an historic win today to progress and give them momentum to potentially go even further in the competition.

England head coach, Mark Sampson has said, "The staff have worked really hard to make sure this group are the most together unit in the tournament and be in a position to sense the pressure. This tournament is in our hands."

He added, "Now the big challenge is - can we make history? We want to progress in this tournament, we're ambitious and we're building momentum, but there are tough challenges ahead."

The England side did well after losing their opening game against No. 3 ranked France in Group F. They went on to defeat Mexico and Colombia - both by a score of 2-1 - to progress out of the group in second place.

However, Norway will not be an easy task, and are ranked just six places below England in the world rankings in 11th spot. Norway showed how difficult they can be to defeat, by claiming a hard-fought 1-1 draw with World Cup favorites Germany in the group stages. England fans will remember that this same Germany team destroyed England 3-0 just last November.

The last time England and Norway faced off against one another was way back in January 2014 when they drew 1-1 in a friendly game.

Norway are a team that has a strong pedigree in this competition and won the Women's World Cup back in 1995. This year they are in good form and enter this contest feeling confident they can navigate their way past England.

They are undefeated so far, drawing with Germany, and claiming good victories against Thailand and the Ivory Coast.
