Friends, have you ever felt like you've reached a dead end in your walk with God and in the pursuit of the calling that He has given you? If you have, then I have an encouragement for you.

Many of us feel like we're stuck in a dead end in the pursuit of obeying God. Insurmountable problems arise, the kind that get you dizzy trying to find a solution. Challenges come, the kind that make you want to retreat to your prayer closet and just cry out to God for help.

Friend, when you're in this kind of situation, know that the Lord is able and is willing to do what only He can do: show His glory.

He's not done yet

Nobody likes the feeling of facing a "dead-end moment" in their life. It's that moment when you are tempted to quit and give up. When we reach this moment, it's when we are actually enabled to see God's power displayed in all its glory. Simply put, when we feel like we're done for, God's not done with us yet.

In Isaiah 44:21b, God says, "I, the Lord, made you, and I will not forget you." No, He doesn't forget us nor abandon us when we're in the fiery furnace of problems.

In Isaiah 44:8, He says, "Do not tremble; do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim my purposes for you long ago? You are my witnesses—is there any other God? No! There is no other Rock—not one!"

He doesn't forget His purposes for you. More than that, He will not rest until He has fulfilled His purposes for you! We can trust in Him, for He is our Sovereign God.

Think about it: When we are at the dead-end zone, we should at least think of God's purposes for our lives. If His purposes for us aren't fulfilled yet, we can be assured that He's not done with us yet – He'll surely come to our aid!

Opportunities for growth

Dead ends then are simply opportunities for us to grow into the character that God wants us to grow into, which is the character of Christ.

Picture it this way: A dead end comes as you walk along the road to God's purpose in your life. You lose hope, and end up being hopeless of bitter or angry at God. Tears well up in your eyes as you get mad. Because of these tears, you fail to see God's provisions that are actually on the way, or are already there: a crane called "faith" and a wrecking ball called "grace."

Despite that, God won't stop doing you good, until His purpose is fulfilled. You should then repent of your unbelief and put your trust in Him.

"I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." (Philippians 1:6)
