Kingsway have announced the debut album from rock/worship trio The Steels.

With YFriday’s Ken Riley stepping in as producer, the album – Supreme – is a great introduction to a band who have already more than proved their worth.

Having formed as exam-sitting teenagers, Adam Carmichael (guitars/vocals), Simon Napper (bass) and Matt Chambers (drums) have since spent almost a decade touring, writing and sharing their faith through words and music across the UK. They have appeared on BBC1 and The God Channel and have played in mainland Europe and toured the United States.

And with two albums already behind them, this debut release for Kingsway comes fully honed, seasoned and ready for impact.

The album includes hooks that seem to have an unending half-life, choruses that burst faster and bolder with every successive play.

Adam explains a little more: “Ken spent a lot of time working the songs with me before we even started playing them, and then, for three weeks before the start of recording we rehearsed as a band, fine tuning structures and parts with Ken’s guidance and making rough demos.

"At the end of November we headed down to ICC studios in Eastbourne, where we tracked drums and bass with the help of Pete Lozinski (Engineer). Through December we tracked the guitars at New Life Christian Centre in Morpeth - a church which very kindly opened its doors and let us set up a studio for two weeks."

“Supreme is a great album and I say that without bias!” says Ken Riley. “It’s been exciting to see The Steels develop and recognise God’s hand on them. At a time when it seems God has hit reset, the Steels are torch bearers of the most special thing, the timeless message of Christ for a new generation.”

The result of all that God-guidance and hard graft is Supreme, an album that rises and soars with more grace and power than usual for a band who are only two years into their full-time career.

From the undeniable lift of the title track to the bounce of ‘This Is How We Know’, the depth of ‘Made To Worship You’ to the breadth of ‘Glorify’, The Steels are clearly skilled beyond their years.
