A new trailer for the upcoming fantasy action game "Extinction" revealed the title's main story and its features.

The trailer published on Youtube on Feb. 14 revealed the kind of world Extinction will be set in — a world where humanity is at war with itself for years. The game will officially begin after a portal from another dimension opened up, allowing the Ravenii, 150 feet tall ogres, to come and slaughter mankind. A developer described the arrival of the ogres and the subsequent horrendous events in the new trailer — "These are the horrors of the times past. This is the threat that was spoken of in children's fairytale."

Players will be taking on the role of Avil, the last of the Sentinel Order. He was a new trainee in the wiped-out ancient order dedicated to preserving the legend of the Ravenii as well as the techniques and strategies needed to fight these monstrosities. He was the only one left equipped with the knowledge to take them down. The players' main goals are to exterminate the ogres and to save as much of humanity as they possibly can in the process of doing so.

The trailer also revealed that "Extinction" will feature a lot of high-level skill execution mechanics — the game will have timing specific attacks, cancel windows, standard single strike, ground attacks or single target and sweeping Area of Effect (AOE) attacks. Aside from those, Avil will also feature knock-ups, air combinations, knock-downs while in the air and a whip that latches onto flying enemies. To defeat a Ravenii, Avil must use a magical rune strike that only he can do. He must, therefore, charge up power to execute the kill strike. To build up rune energy for the strike, Avil must save people, kill the ogres' minions, dismember the Ravenii, destroy their armors and complete mission objectives.

"Extinction" is scheduled to release on April 10 for personal computer (PC), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Fear, denial and control: Why the Cuban government prohibits the most natural responses to the country’s dire humanitarian needs

It may be hard to fathom how such pettiness plays into the government’s wider crackdown on FoRB and other fundamental human rights, or how on earth it could justify extending its repression to children, but ultimately it all comes down to fear.
