Rumors have ignited the return of the "Fable" franchise in the gaming community, and it is said to have a different developer this time.

Anonymous sources from Eurogamer has made claims that Microsoft may be preparing a new "Fable" game, with a new developer in the form of Playground Games, which as fans know, is responsible for the "Forza Horizon" series. Apparently, the rumored "Fable" game would also be an AAA budget game which could also be a reboot of the franchise since the original assets of the previous games have been scrapped when its original developer, Lionhead Studios shut down.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has stated that it does not and it will not comment on rumors, hence the lack of clarification on whether the claims have any ring of truth to them. Given this, fans best take the rumors with a grain of salt. Regardless, sources close to the rumored project have stated that the new "Fable" is to be a story-driven and character-focused open-world action roleplaying game (RPG), similar to its predecessors.

Apparently, there is also a lot of effort being put into the alleged "Fable" game, with about 200 developers set to work on it at the newly-established second office of Playground Games in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. While there is currently no way of confirming whether this is true or not, Microsoft staying neutral with the claims, neither confirming or denying it, might mean something might be being kept secret, and it could get revealed later on in the year.

Still, fans should set their expectations accordingly. Even if the rumors were to be true, the new "Fable" game might still be a long way off from release. For all they know, production might now have even begun yet; as such, no release expectations are currently available for the supposed next "Fable" game.
