Faith over Miracles Emphasised for Nigerian Christians

Ben Issac of the 'General Overseer of Kingdom Heirs Assembly' recently inaugurated a new outreach program called 'Greater Works Movement'. Speaking in Lagos, Nigeria, Issac said that Christians should think about the greater works God is planning to do through his son Jesus Christ. He said to This Day in Lagos that "This is what God wrought in Jesus Christ that brought about the Easter celebration which is the most important occasion for every human being who identifies him or herself as a Christian."

Greater Works Movement as envisioned by Ben Issac is to bring people to God from their places of work, including companies, markets, business outfits, and offices. Issac argues that present messages in Nigeria are too worldly and thus contrary to God's will. "Too many pastors makes themselves the centre of attention and thus puts faith in Jesus in the background," he said.

He also questioned the obsession of miracles by many Christians, who travel long distances to see miracles from ministers. He noted that miracles are not the exclusive domain of any minister but things that can be done by any true believer with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ben Issac emphasised the need for faith among all believers regardless of the presence of miracles. He said that his followers must "realise that change is inevitable in migrating humanity into the next level born out of passion and commitment not ambition...the motivating pull is thy will be done on earth," according to This Day. "God is not a superstar God but rather the eternal spirit that created and dwells with his creation at every level."
