The fifth and final season of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama "Falling Skies" will begin later this month, which means that the surviving humans are now prepared to reclaim Earth from the extraterrestrial beings.

The first episode of "Falling Skies" season 5 will begin exactly where the series left off last season, in which Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), the second-in-command in the Second Massachusetts Militia Regiment, was last seen lost in space. It seems impossible for Tom to find his way back to Earth, but actor Drew Roy, who plays Hal Mason in the series, said that Tom will be able to find a way back home, but how he will do that becomes one of the new season's mysteries.

In an interview with The Examiner, the actor mentioned that the remaining members of the Second Massachusetts militia will have to find a way to fight back against the alien invaders without Hal's father Tom as their leader, but he will once again emerge to help them. However, not everyone will be comfortable with Tom's return as well as his bold ideas.

Regarding Hal's relationship with Maggie (Sarah Carter) and her uncontrollable attachment to his brother Ben (Connor Jessup), Roy said that his character will struggle in coming to terms with his girlfriend and his brother having this special connection after Ben saved her from injury last season. Hal will have to decide whether he could live with the fact that Maggie and Ben will always have a strong bond, or let her go completely if she cannot control herself from kissing his brother.

Roy also shared that the survivors will have a lot of losses in season 5.

"We will definitely lose some important people, some people that have been there for a long time or the whole time," the actor stated.

"Falling Skies" season 5 episode 1 airs on Sunday, June 28, on TNT.
