The upcoming episode will reportedly be focused mainly on the difficult decisions Tom will have to make, and the rumors suggest that what he ultimately decides to do is going to be very costly for someone on the show.

According to Latin Post, there is still no clear indication of who could be potentially impacted by Tom's decision and whether it is going to be a minor or major character. The only thing apparently clear at this point is that the show is primed to have one character killed off. Tom's ordeal will pop up during his mission to tell the world about his status as the leader and his goal to rally the people around him.

In addition to the rumored upcoming demise of someone on the show, the episode will also feature Tom teaming up with The Volm. There will also be an added layer of intrigue to the show, as Tom's son Hal will disobey his father in order to fulfill his own personal mission with Maggie. Hal's dissenting attitude is also set to become a fixture on the show, according to Fashion and Style.

According to Drew Roy, the actor playing Hal on "Falling Skies," Season five will be notable for his character mainly because of his new-found confidence that allows him to speak up against his father when he feels the need to do so, and more of that is apparently in store for the upcoming episode.

Another running subplot set to be part of the third episode will be the love triangle between Hal, Maggie and Ben continuing to deepen.
