'Fallout 4' mods PS4 release date: New feature rolls out first to Xbox One and PC

"Fallout 4" Bethesda Softworks

Fans expect the new mods feature for "Fallout 4" to be released for the console versions in almost the same roll-out periods. However, the Xbox One version gets the new feature first, as Bethesda admits that there are problems in porting the mods feature to the PS4.

The developer has taken to Twitter to announce the delay. While Bethesda has not provided any specific release date for the mods feature, the developer did promise that "We will update everyone when we can."

Reportedly, one of the things that make it difficult to port the mods feature to the PS4 is the size difference. Bethesda has no issues with the feature going live for the PC and Xbox One version of "Fallout 4," since Microsoft allows for up to 2 GB of ported data. Sony, on the other hand, only allows up to 900 MB. This presents a problem for modders, since most of the files for the feature eat a substantial amount of memory.

Meanwhile, the mods feature for the Xbox One and PC gets a new patch. Update 1.6 has rolled out that includes improvements in the over-all gameplay and specific issue fixes for the Creation Kit. The mods feature marks the latest major update for "Fallout 4," at least until the release of the next DLC for the game.

As for the expansion content, Bethesda has also revealed that the next upcoming DLC, "Nuka-World," is the "last-planned DLC" for the game. This means that for the moment, the only major DLCs are on the table until the release of "Nuka-World" next month, though it seems that the developer is hinting that more could be on the way.

The latest expansion content for "Fallout 4" is "Contraptions Workshop," which came out last June. The next DLC is "Vault-Tec Workshop," scheduled for release this month, while "Nuka-World" will go live in August.
