It was previously reported that Sony had made it impossible for Bethesda Softworks to enable mod support for "Fallout 4" on the PlayStation 4. Although, Bethesda Softworks has now announced that after some negotiations mod support will be made available, but there are a few things to consider beforehand.

The official announcement on their site reads as follows: "We and Sony have worked hard to make this possible. Mods on PlayStation 4 will allow you to modify and create your own content by using our Creation Kit available here. You will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods, but you will be able to use any assets that come with the game, as most mods do. By creating a Bethesda.net account, you'll be able to browse and try mods right from within the game."

As explained by Kotaku, this means there won't be the option of adding in custom textures and other assets into the PS4 version of the game. Mods that give power armor inspired by "Pacific Rim" or creatures inspired by "My Little Pony" won't be included in the supported mods list.

However, players can still create and share mods like the "Fallout 4 Unofficial Patch" that fixes bugs and glitches or make custom locations and quests using the assets already in the game.

Bethesda also confirmed that PS4 mod support will come to "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition" first and only when that game is launched on Oct. 28 will they be able to add mod support for "Fallout 4." This hints that mod support for "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition" is the main priority.

Fans speculate that this means "Fallout 4" PS4 mods won't be coming online until late November or early December. Xbox One and PC players got mod support earlier this year, and they did not have the limitations regarding internal and external assets, allowing mods on those platforms to be far more creative and outlandish.
