'Fallout 4' release date details: Bethesda confirms game

Good news for those eagerly waiting for the next installment in the smash hit "Fallout" series – the fourth title is already confirmed as already in the works.

Although developer Bethesda already has a scheduled press conference at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, it pre-empted the upcoming E3 event with a reveal trailer, confirming the newest "Fallout 4" title.

The trailer itself is a cinematographic view of the game, opening with a "Please Standby" message before panning out into a view of the interior of a bombed-out house. A dog is shown walking through the rubble, with the views switching from pre- and post-apocalyptic scenes.

Aside from letting fans have a glimpse of the upcoming game, the trailer also indicates the rumored return of voice actor Ron Perlman, as the famous quote from previous "Fallout" titles can be heard in the background, saying, "War. War never changes."

Hardcore fans can also take note of a brief view of Vault 111, and this might become the starting point for the journey in "Fallout 4."

The trailer also confirms that the upcoming game will have its gameplay set in The Commonwealth – the "Fallout" world version of Massachusetts. The Commonwealth was already introduced in prior titles in the franchise, with the most recent one, "Fallout 3", referencing the area in a side quest called The Replicated Man. Confirmation of the set location is indicated in the trailer itself, with some scenes showing the war-torn USS Constitution and the Boston State House.

In the last sequence of the trailer, the dog is shown walking alongside a voiced-over character. If the said character would be the main protagonist in the game, then it would the first time in  the "Fallout" series that the main player would have a voice-over.

Since this is just a teaser trailer, there are no details yet on the specific release date of "Fallout 4." However, fans note that Bethesda may reveal some more details at the upcoming E3 event this June.
