'Fallout Shelter' news: Mobile game gets new update

Bethesda

"Fallout Shelter," the first mobile game from Bethesda Softworks based on the popular and long-running "Fallout" franchise, had gotten a new update.

According to a new trailer released by the developer, one of the most noted improvements in the new 1.2 update to the mobile game is introducing cloud saves. Unlike the previous version, where the game itself can only be played and saved on a device, having the clould saving feature for the new version will allow players to transfer and play "Fallout Shelter" across different devices.

Meanwhile, players who have found the game to be monotonous and easy enough to navigate can now challenge themselves. Update 1.2 also unlocks a new Survival mode. According to industry follower Touch Arcade, the new gameplay mode also adds a new option for Vault managers – they can now scavenge equipment from dead Raiders to their Vaults, as well as skip the Tutorial stage altogether. Meanwhile, the new update also adds a new stats page to help Vault owners manage their dwellers, items, and resources better. In addition, the update also unlocks fixes and general improvements to the game.

The new update also adds additional characters to the title. After skipping the Tutorial, players will have a chance to encounter a Mysterious Stranger that awards bonus caps for players who spotted him. Meanwhile, for Vault managers using Apple devices, there is an iOS-exclusive feature with update 1.2. Aside from free lunchbox items, iOS users will also unlock Piper, a new character from the upcoming "Fallout 4" title.

"Fallout Shelter" is the first mobile game title by Bethesda Softworks, based on the popular "Fallout" series. Independent of the upcoming "Fallout 4" series continuation, "Fallout Shelter'" places players in the shoes of a Vault manager trying to build and maintain a shelter in a post-apocalyptic world.

"Fallout Shelter" was launched last July for the iOS and the following month for Android.
