FOX Channel is cooking up a storm as the Griffins visit the Simpsons in Springfield for the first time on Sunday.

The two goofy animation families on TV will finally have the chance to meet each other as Peter and the gang travel from Quahog, Rhode Island to Springfield for special back-to-back episodes, which will mark the season premiere of both cartoon series.

The much awaited event will begin with the pilot episode of "The Simpsons" season 26 at 7 p.m. It features Krusty's decision to quit from his show after being offended by a joke from a comedy cable channel, as well as Springfield's coping with the death of one of its residents, and Lisa's attempts to save Homer from hurting himself.

Then, the one-hour crossover special will finally happen, as Peter Griffin and the gang from Quahog, Rhode Island find themselves in Springfield during the premiere episode of "Family Guy" season 13 at 8 p.m.

It seems like the two families hit it off pretty well. Homer and Peter bond over beer, Bart and Stewie hang out and exchange skills, Lisa teaches Meg how to play the saxophone, Maggie and Chris spend time with each other with their pacifiers, and even the family dogs share tender moments together.

But things turn sour when Peter and Homer have an ugly disagreement over which beer is better. Homer calls Peter's favorite Pawtucket Ale as "a lousy rip-off of Duff," the Peter counters with an insult for Homer's Duff Beer, saying that "it may have been inspired by Duff, but I like to think it goes in a different direction."

Fans of both shows have been waiting for this crossover to happen for a long time. "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane described the episode as: "It's really about the character interaction. People want to see Peter interact with Homer. They want to see Bart interact with Stewie. In a way, the story in a crossover episode, while it has to be there, is never quite as important as how the characters interact with each other."

MacFarlene openly admits that he is a big fan of "The Simpsons," created by Matt Groening.

The crossover episode will be aired by Fox on Sunday, Sept. 28.
