One key role that has yet to be filled in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2" is the part of Albus Dumbledore. But it looks like a couple of actors has already thrown their names in the hat.

Candidate No. 1 is Arthur Darvill. The "Doctor Who" actor told Digital Spy that he would absolutely consider doing it if he was offered the role.

"Absolutely, [I'm up for it]. D'you know what? I've made this pact with myself that when I hit a certain age, I'm only going to play wizards. I want to be that guy," he said.

We Got This Covered noted that it will be a challenge to make Darvill look older for the role because Dumbledore is supposed to be 45 in the "Fantastic Beasts" sequel. Darvill is only 34. He also doesn't have a big name, and the publication pointed out that Warner Bros. may opt for a popular actor.

Candidate No. 2 is "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" actor Jared Harris. Well, he didn't exactly campaign for the role, but many fans believe he is just perfect for it. In fact, Harris' father Richard Harris was actually Dumbledore in the first two "Harry Potter" films before he died.

In an interview with Standard Online, Harris said he has heard the rumors, but the people behind the film haven't approached him yet.

"They're obviously thinking about it. I haven't heard anything and I don't expect to. It's not up to me. Having seen [fan campaigns] before I find that [film bosses] don't like to have their hands forced. These campaigns almost always go in a different direction," he stated.

It sounds like he is asking fans not to lobby too hard and annoy the producers.

So, who is going to grab the role? Fans will find out in the coming months.
