"Far Cry 5" is not too far from its release date on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4), which is why the developers of the game have released a new trailer for the upcoming first-person shooter (FPS) that showcases the story.

Ubisoft, developer and publisher of "Far Cry 5," has uploaded a two-minute story trailer of the game to YouTube and it shows just how bold a step they are taking in terms of the game's direction. This time around, instead of fighting modern pirates and dictator lackeys, players will be facing off against a religious cult's private army, one that plagues the fictional region of Hope County, Montana.

The story apparently incorporates themes in tune with the modern-day issues of the United States and other countries today, specifically fundamentalism and fascism, though it remains very much a "Far Cry" game with the trademark of insanity and outlandishness also found in earlier titles. The said religious cult, named Project at Eden's Gate, has taken over rural Hope County and it falls upon the player's hands to help the people of the area in liberating themselves from the clutches of the extremist doomsday cult.

Led by a self-proclaimed prophet named Joseph Seed, the cult engages primarily in kidnapping citizens and land grabbing but the Hope County government seems unable to do anything about it. Being a "Far Cry" game, this premise will likely be explained vaguely, if at all, and should primarily be there to give players something to do.

Though it is quite similar to "Far Cry 3" and "Far Cry 4" in the sense that players will still be doing errands for various figures of a cookie-cutter resistance faction in order to amass and inspire enough courage and firepower. The difference this time is how Ubisoft wants to do things differently and bolder compared with the previous games.

"Far Cry 5" will be released on March 27 on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
