The Game Awards 2015 is already shaping up to be quite the event, and yet, one of its main attractions may not even be related to any honor.

Although fans are still expected to tune in for the ceremony, many people will undoubtedly be paying attention because the event promises to debut the first official gameplay trailer for "Far Cry Primal," according to Gamespot.

Announced back in October, "Far Cry Primal" has been one of the more eagerly anticipated titles since it was first made known to the public. To this point, however, Ubisoft, the game's developer, has held off on providing any actual game footage.

The October announcement was mainly a routine announcement that also revealed some of the game's elements, although in-game footage was lacking.

As of now, players know that they will be taking on the role of Takkar as they attempt to survive in their prehistoric surroundings. "Far Cry Primal" takes place in 10,000 B.C., and as would be expected from that timeline, the environment players will find themselves in will also be featuring a variety of ancient creatures that could pose a threat to their lives.

"Far Cry Primal" is slated for a Feb. 23 release, according to Shack News, but with the gameplay footage set to debut next week, fans can at least form a reasonable opinion of what the game will be like before it is officially launched.

Fans are expecting a lot from "Far Cry Primal," and now they will know if the game can deliver on their lofty expectations as early as next week.

"Far Cry Primal" will just be one of the 10 world premieres expected to take place at The Game Awards, according to show organizer Geoff Keighley, promising that the night will be one of the biggest of the year for video games.

The Game Awards 2015 will take place in Los Angeles on Thursday, Dec. 3.
