The sophomore season of FX's critically acclaimed anthology drama "Fargo" is still earning praises from viewers and critics alike. But series showrunner Noah Hawley already revealed the plans for the third season of the series.

Entertainment Weekly learned that the events of "Fargo" season 3 will take place two years after season 1. "It's more contemporary," Noah Hawley said.

The series showrunner also revealed that there is a possibility that some of the characters will return after the second season.

"Fargo" featured different sets of characters in its first two seasons, but they both include some key characters. In season 1, Lou was portrayed by Keith Carradine, then the character was assumed by Patrick Wilson in season 2. Solverson's daughter Molly, portrayed by Allison Tolman, was one of the lead characters in season 1. Molly was also present in season 2, but she was just a young minor character in the current season.

When asked if the Solversons will still be featured in the next season, Hawley revealed that it would be difficult to justify another dramatic angle for Molly since she already had an amazing plot in season 1.

In addition, Hawley offered several hints about season 3. He said, "There are going to be connections, the way the first year was connected to the movie and the second year was connected to the first, but I think part of the fun is figuring that stuff out and I wouldn't want to take that away from anybody. There will be definitely things that connect to something in our story."

Meanwhile, Patrick Wilson was asked by Variety if he was willing to portray Lou Solverson again in the next installment of "Fargo" after the second season. "I've been asked more than twice about Season 3, and would I do it," the actor shared. "You kind of feel like there's no way they could with the track they had set. But God, wouldn't it be cool if down the line they needed to see where the Solverson family was? I'd be more than happy to don my hat and suit again."
