Last year, fans of "The Fast and Furious" franchise were able to see Paul Walker for the last time on "Furious 7" as the actor's unfinished scenes were accomplished through digital effects and the help of his brother, Cody.

The 27-year-old was asked to be a stand-in for his brother, who died in a car accident in November 2013, and his presence in the film enabled moviegoers to say goodbye to Walker's character, Brian O'Conner.

Lately, there have been rumors that Cody was going to be in the next installment of the film after reports claimed that his name was added to the IMDB credits for "Fast 8," However, Universal Pictures shot down the rumors that Cody will be appearing in the upcoming film as a rep from the studio told Polygon, "There's no truth behind it."

This would certainly be a letdown for fans of the late actor, as it was expected that his character will live in some form in future movies. Speaking with Variety, Vice Chairman of NBC Universal Ron Meyer admitted that the next "Fast and Furious" films will be very different without one of the franchise's original characters.

"Paul won't be on it, but he'll be represented in some form or another but whether his image is in it, I can't tell you yet, but he won't be in the film as a performer, as an actor, the way we did it last time," said Meyer. "It will still be 'Fast and Furious,' it will just be without Paul."

Cody started pursuing an acting career after he stood in for his brother in "Furious 7." Last year, he filmed a movie with Nicolas Cage, Tom Sizemore and Thomas Jane called "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage," which will be released on May 30.

"Fast 8" will be in theaters on April 14, 2017.
