With "Fast and Furious 8" coming soon, fans are already wondering what it could have in store, and according to rumors, it may be featuring a special appearance from the dearly departed Paul Walker.

One of the main plot points of the upcoming film will reportedly involve the return of Mia Toretto, also known as the character played by Jordana Brewster.

As fans of the franchise know, Brewster's character is the love interest of Brian O'Connor, the character portrayed onscreen by Walker. According to Australian News Network, if a return is indeed in the cards for Brewster's character, then that may involve a bit of an assist from her onscreen beau.

For her part, Brewster has expressed interest in coming back to the franchise, and although it is unconfirmed for now, there does appear to be interest in such a reunion.

To be clear, if Walker's character will indeed show up, it will most likely be done through computer-generated imagery (CGI) technology. It's also unclear just how much of a role Walker's character could have in "Fast and Furious 8," considering the limitations. There are rumors that the film is being done as a tribute to Walker and how that factors into computer-generated appearances from the actor is anyone's guess for now.

As fans might recall, the most recent film from the franchise devoted its ending to the now-deceased Walker in a move that was widely lauded by fans and critics.

As for what else the next "Fast and Furious" film could have in store for fans, Movie News Guide reports that the latest entry will be the first in another trilogy for the series, meaning its storyline could extend beyond its conclusion.

Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jason Statham have also confirmed that they will be returning for the next movie.

"Fast and Furious" is currently penciled in for an April 14, 2017 premiere.
