'Fast & Furious 8' spoilers: Ortiz-Toretto-Fuentes love triangle? Jordana Brewster's return unconfirmed

"Furious 7" went on to earn over $1.5 billion worldwide and despite the untimely passing of actor Paul Walker, the franchise is moving forward with an eighth entry. There have been many speculations regarding the next film, and in a report from Realty Today, it appears that "Fast & Furious 8" may feature a love triangle between the main characters.

Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto recently got back together with his girlfriend Letty Ortiz, played by Michelle Rodriguez. However, the eighth installment will reportedly see the return of Eva Mendez as agent Monica Fuentes, which, according to the report, might entangle the three in a love triangle.

This might not have worked in the past but ever since Letty returned in "Fast & Furious Six," she suffered from amnesia and never really became the same girl she was before. Monica Fuentes also shared a connection with Paul Walker's Brian O'Connor, creating room for her and Toretto to get together and form something intimate.

Mendez first appeared in "2 Fast 2 Furious," the second installment in the franchise and would later return in an un-credited cameo at the end of "Fast Five."

One actress who doesn't seem sure if she'll return is Jordana Brewster, who plays Mia Toretto, Dominic's sister and Brian O'Connor's wife. "Furious 7" ended with a farewell to Paul Walker's character and Mia Toretto was written into the scene as well, hinting that both would retire from the life of the fast and furious.

As cited by a report from Enstarz, Brewster stated that she is not yet sure if her character will be brought in for the next film. It is possible that she will appear in a short cameo scene talking to Dominic Toretto or it might just be assumed that Mia is living a happy life with Brian.

"I don't know if I'd do another film, but it's always dependent on the fans," she explained in the report. "If they want one and if there's an appetite for it. We never want to jump the shark!"
