Fatherhood

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:1-2)

|PIC1|The first thing a child will see when he is born is his Father. As Christians we want to witness our faith and often the first place where we can do this is at home.

Our children seek our love, and in the same way, they will one day seek the same Love from the Father. Therefore, revealing to them the same traits we were shown; forgiveness, patience, kindness and goodness, our children will then later reveal these seek and reveal, these same traits from the Lord...

In a similar way, negative behavious such as consistent scolding, busyness and emotional neglect also shape a child's later image of God. Charles Stanley talks of a man who lacked faith in God's love and forgiveness towards him. When meditating together later, it was revealed that he also doubted his own father's love towards him also...

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1)

Being a reflection of the heavenly Father is easy. When reaising the love of God that has been lavished upon us, we can live the same life of love laid out in the bible. As we were loved by Christ so we should love others also.

As we were loved by the Father, so too we can love our children also...
