Players will take on the role of Fe in the game that bears the same name. Fe is a fox-like creature in the dark Nordic forest. The key features of the game include the following — discover the forest, speak its language and defeat the Silent Ones. Fe can run, climb, and explore the living ecosystem of the Nordic forest which is filled with mystical creatures. Fe will also be able to communicate with these creatures through an analog song mechanic wherein Fe will be able to ask them for help by singing the right tune. Fe will have to use the songs she learned to defeat the Silent Ones that are threatening the harmony of the forest as well as to make it back home again.

The game is said to have minimal instructions as players will be progressing on the story at their own pace. According to Polygon, Swedish-based Zoink's chief executive officer (CEO) Klaus Lyngeled said that the game is a personal narrative about humanity's relationship with nature. Moreover, he said that Fe's story is a reminder that everything in the world is connected.
