'Fear the Walking Dead' episode 5: 'Cobalt' (AMC)

AMC

"Fear the Walking Dead" season 1 is down to its penultimate episode titled "Cobalt." Viewers will finally see what the National Guard's intents really are. In the previous episode, the troop had the neighborhood secluded in order to lock out the "zombies" from making a meal out of the residents.

In between, some members of the National Guard went to Madison's house and took Griselda, who is injured, and Nick, who appeared to be too drenched in morphine to function, to what they claimed was a "hospital," where Liza had been brought to as well.

But Madison and Daniel know that their loved ones are in grave danger, and so they will do their best to get Nick and Griselda back before something horrible happens to them. Ofelia is also doing her utter best to rescue her mother, but she has chosen a very dangerous way to do so.

Executive producer Dave Erickson said that Madison and Daniel will "absolutely" work together in bringing their family to safety. "What will be interesting in episode 5 is how they go about trying to retrieve Griselda, Liza and Nick," Erickson teased to The Hollywood Reporter.

"We will see a couple of unique and very specific ways of collecting all their loved ones — and will see which approach works," he went on to say, adding that "there's a lot of fear."

It remains to be seen what will become of Nick, Griselda and Liza in the upcoming "Fear the Walking Dead" season 1 episode but fans can expect things to fire up as the season draws closer to its conclusion.

The synopsis for episode 5 teases that the National Guard's true objectives will be exposed, and whether or not they are friends or foes will be revealed, too. Upon seeing what the group is really up to, Travis and Madison will make a "difficult" decision.

"Fear the Walking Dead" season 1 episode 5 airs Sept. 27. Be sure to watch it on AMC or catch it online via live stream on AMC.com
