AMC has announced that there will be a new tie-in web series for "The Walking Dead" titled "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462." The web series will officially launch on Sunday, Oct. 4 on AMC.com and will be shown again as commercial promos during the two commercial breaks of "The Walking Dead" season 6 premiere on Oct. 11.

There will be sixteen episodes in total, with the second episode onward launching online every Sunday and then later aired during the commercial breaks for every episode of "The Walking Dead" season 6. AMC also confirmed that one of the characters from "Flight 462" will join the cast of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2.

However, as the series' plot has yet to intertwine with "Fear the Walking Dead," there is no confirmation at this point as to which new character will be crossed over.

"Flight 462" takes place in roughly the same time frame as "Fear the Walking Dead," the companion series which will reach its finale this upcoming Oct. 4. While "Fear" tells how the zombie outbreak began in Los Angeles, "Flight 462" focuses on an outbreak in a commercial airplane still in mid-flight, with one passenger revealed to be an "infected."

The web series is written by L. Signorino and Mike Zunic, with "Fear" director of photography Michael McDonough taking over the helm. Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner David Erickson will serve as executive producers.

Each episode will be a minute long, with the whole web series mounting up to roughly 16-20 minutes total.

"'Flight 462' is a great extension of the world of 'Fear' and will engage fans across multiple platforms with another riveting story set at the start of the fall of civilization," explained AMC's President of Original Programming and Development Joel Stillerman.

The web series will also continue with a 15-episode second season come 2016, presumably alongside season 7 of "The Walking Dead."
