'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2 spoilers: Can zombies attack on the open sea?

AMC Official

Plans will go awry in the second season of "Fear the Walking Dead" based on the latest teaser for the upcoming season.

The new 10-second teaser shows the survivors who escaped the chaos on the streets of California by going on board the yacht owned by Victor Strand (Colman Domingo).

The survivors thought that the zombies have no ability to swim, which is why they decided to embark on a journey on the open water. But they did not expect to see the zombies reaching out to them in the middle of the sea.

The trailer reveals that Travis (Cliff Curtis), Madison (Kim Dickens) and their kids as well as the other survivors will also come across another lifeboat full of people who are asking them for help. However, they have no idea if the passengers of the lifeboat have been infected by the virus that caused the terrors on land. This could mean that the danger of being bitten by a zombie could follow them on the open sea.

But aside from turning into a zombie, the people on the yacht could also encounter a different kind of threat with the new group of survivors from the lifeboat. Based on the teaser, Travis will have to defend himself and trouble begins on board the sea vehicles.

In October, showrunner Dave Erickson shared with Entertainment Weekly what fans should look forward to when "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 returns in April.

"You're going to see a bunch of seabound refugees over the course of season 2," the showrunner said. "And much in the same way that we have taken steps to survive and compromised our morals to do so, we're going to have to deal with some people who have very similar objectives, and the default setting for most of these people is not going to be, let's all live in harmony and try to build a new community."

"Fear the Walking Dead" will return with a two-part second season premiere on April 10 on AMC.
