AMC finally released the first teaser video for "Fear the Walking Dead," the soon-to-be released companion series for the network's critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic show, "The Walking Dead."

In the 30-second video, Frank Dillane's character Nick is seen running away from someone, or something, to save his life.

Nick, who is half-naked with just an open white shirt, tries to escape through a window, speeding past a small alley toward the main street while attempting to hold on to his pants to prevent it from falling. The terrified look on his face proves that his life is in danger and the thing running after him could cost him his life.

Based on early reports, Dillane's character is the son of high school guidance counselor Madison, portrayed by Kim Dickens. Nick is described as a college drop-out who is struggling with drug problems.

Aside from Nick, Madison also has a teenage daughter named Alicia, who is a complete opposite of her brother. Alicia is described as an ambitious and high-achieving student who knows how to read situations well. Madison raises her children with the help of her fiancĂ©, Cliff Curtis' character Travis.

When "Fear the Walking Dead" was first announced, it was earlier believed that it will be just a spin-off for "TWD," but the network recently revealed that the upcoming show will serve as a companion series to the TV adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic book saga.

According to reports, "Fear the Walking Dead" begins as a prequel to "The Walking Dead," during the time when Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was still in a coma. But unlike "TWD" which is set in the post-apocalyptic era in Georgia, "Fear the Walking Dead" is set in Los Angeles. However, Kirkman revealed that it will eventually catch up with the events in "TWD" since they are set in the same universe.

"Fear the Walking Dead" is slated to premiere in August.
