Two prominent women's soccer stars in Alex Morgan and Christine Sinclair are set to grace the cover of "FIFA 16" video game for their respective countries.

This means that Morgan will be appearing on the cover of the US version of the game, while Morgan will be making her appearance on the Canadian version.

Both women's soccer stars will be joined on the respective covers by Argentinean soccer superstar Lionel Messi.

The two women shot to superstardom during the recently concluded Women's World Cup in Canada.

Morgan starred for the U.S. squad that eventually won the tournament, playing in all seven of the team's games at the competition. Sinclair also enjoyed her star turn during the tournament, as she was the captain of the Canadian national team that finished in the top eight.

In addition to Morgan and Sinclair, Steph Catley will also be appearing on the Australian cover of "FIFA 16" as the representative for her country. Catley's selection was the result of a poll that included other prominent players from the Australian national team.

With interest in women's soccer peaking after the recently concluded tournament, there were rampant talks that game publisher EA Sports would feature a woman player on the cover of the newest game from the franchise. However, Polygon reported that the decision to feature both Morgan and Sinclair along with Messi on the different covers of the game was made even before the start of the Women's World Cup.

"FIFA 16" will be the first game in the series to feature women's teams ever since its debut in 1993, according to BBC News.

Twelve international teams made up of women will be included in the game, including the U.S. and Canadian national teams.

Voting was also held for male players to be put on the cover of "FIFA 16" for countries such as Japan and Mexico as well as other European and South American nations.

"FIFA 16" will be released on Sept. 22.
