FIFA Referee Mike McCurry: "God Says I'll Watch Over You"

|PIC1|FIFA referee Mike McCurry enjoyed the challenges of the 2001 under-20 World Cup in Argentina:

I refereed Argentina v China in Buenos Aires, in a packed stadium, Javier Saviola playing. Which was just tremendous just to be involved in that. So there is a challenge and a test there to meet, to make sure you’re able to manage your way through a game where there are different cultures, different styles, and different problems to be honest.

Mike is a committed follower of Jesus Christ, but how hard is it to keep his faith when things aren’t going well?

I think you can always say that about football supporters, you know, if your team is getting beaten every week, why do you still go and support them? It’s because you believe in them, and some of the biggest and best lessons that I’ve learned about life itself are through the hard times. And I don’t know whether or not God says I’m going to watch over you and make sure you get through this Michael, but I’m going take you through this situation, so that you’ll learn something that will stick with you for the rest of your life.
