'Final Fantasy 7' remake release date, news: Cloud's character design changed to resemble the original
It has been quite a while since Square Enix shared new details to the public about the upcoming "Final Fantasy 7" ("FF7") remake. Of course, the Japanese game studio is trying to keep every information under wraps to avoid spoiling the fans' excitement too much. However, it was reported that the game director Tetsuya Nomura revealed something recently about the character design of the "FF7" lead character Cloud in the remake.
According to the latest reports, Nomura made a surprise visit at the recent 30th-anniversary exhibit of the "Final Fantasy" series. Those people who happened to be at the exhibit claim that the remake director brought some big news with him. For one, Nomura teased that Cloud will undergo design changes. The first look at the character's new look was presented during the 30th-anniversary event, although no one managed to capture photos of the presentation. Nevertheless, those who saw Cloud's latest character design said that he now looks younger and more natural, closely resembling the same character in the original "Final Fantasy 7."
The anime and film adaptations of "Final Fantasy 7" have shown Cloud with a jock appearance. However, the video game remake will make the character look like the original Cloud, who is less mature and has a dorky side. Nomura also said that the players are likely to see a more youthful version of the character in the "Final Fantasy 7" remake.
"Final Fantasy 7" remake development head Naoki Hamaguchi said during the 30th-anniversary exhibit that Nomura has the go signal to change Cloud's appearance and make him look more like his original character in "FF7." Aside from Cloud, the character screenshots of other major leads such as Wedge, Biggs and Jesse were revealed during the event. Still, Square Enix has yet to provide an exact release date for the "Final Fantasy 7" remake, but the fans are hopeful that the game will be out as soon as next year.
