'Final Fantasy 15' release date: Global release info could be out 'soon'

Game company Square Enix has kept details about "Final Fantasy 15" under wraps, with every morsel of detail carefully covered up as they await the perfect time to reveal them. A brand new leak, however, claims that the studio will reveal some juicy details about the release of the game in the very near future.

A Twitter account that goes by the name Nova Crystallis, a leakster of everything about the franchise, claims that in the latest issue of Famitsu, Square Enix President Yusuke Matsuda promised that there will be new information on the game's global release. Moreover, this report also suggested that  Matsuda will take part in talking about this alleged worldwide launch of "Final Fantasy 15."

The report was also shared on Twitter by Red Makuzawa, the editor at Nova Crystallis, although there was no specific date mentioned. It was, however, stressed in the post that this reveal will happen "soon." This news echoes what game director Hajime Tabata said back in January regarding the release plans for the title.

Earlier this year, Tabata said that Square Enix sets its sights on a simultaneous worldwide release. However, he did not reveal more information.

A global release for "Final Fantasy 15" will be something fresh and different for fans and for Square Enix. New entries in the widely popular action role-playing video game series usually come out in Japan initially. This time, perhaps, the game, which was almost named by the developers as "Final Fantasy Versus XIII," will be brought out to various regions all at once.

As for the release date, media outlets surmise that the game might be slated for a 2016 release. "Final Fantasy 15" will be featured at gamescom 2015 in Cologne, Germany from Aug. 5 to 8.
