"Final Fantasy 15" has now been given an official release date, or at least an official release window.

During a panel at PAX Prime in Seattle, the game's director, Hajime Tabata, finally confirmed that the game will indeed be coming out in 2016.

Tabata's confirmation comes at the heels of the director seemingly alluding to a 2016 release date back during Gamescom, according to Polygon.

Interestingly enough, Tabata did not actually give an exact release date for "Final Fantasy 15," aside from the year. This is likely because there will also be a special event coming for "Final Fantasy 15" in March, during which the specific release date of the game will finally be revealed.

Some gamers were reportedly surprised by Tabata's announcement regarding the game, according to Cinema Blend. They were reportedly surprised not so much by the announcement that "Final Fantasy 15" will be coming out in 2016, but more so by the fact that the decision was made to break that bit of news during PAX Prime. It was believed that if Square Enix was going to offer an update regarding "Final Fantasy 15," that they would have done so at Tokyo Game Show instead.

In addition to giving an official release window for "Final Fantasy 15," Tabata also talked about the development of the game.

According to him, aspects of the game such as in-game AI, combat, user interface, and even cameras are somewhere between 30 to 80 percent complete, meaning the development of the game appears to be moving steadily forward at the very least.

Tabata also talked a little about the driving mode in "Final Fantasy 15." According to him, in the game, players will be given the option of either driving the car, known as the Regalia, or just opt to be a passenger. Tabata also warned that the car can run out of gas, at which point, players will either have to get out and push or call for some roadside assistance.
