The year 2016 is shaping up to be a big year for gaming, particularly for role-playing game (RPG) offerings.

One RPG that is virtually guaranteed to be one of the most talked about games of 2016 is none other than the long awaited "Final Fantasy 15."

Fans have gotten a taste of what "Final Fantasy 15" will be like via the demos and trailers released for the game, but they don't tell the entire story. Time will tell if all the development time that's been poured into the game will result in an RPG epic that Square Enix can be proud of.

The official release date of "Final Fantasy 15" will be announced at a Square Enix event in March 2016, so it's still possible that the game might not arrive this year. Still, most fans believe that the game will finally debut this year, with Gamepur suggesting that "Final Fantasy 15" could be ready to launch by the second half of 2016.

The year 2016 is also expected to include the debut of "Persona 5."

"Persona 5" is the latest installment in an RPG franchise that has paired teenagers with their stronger, more magical manifestations of themselves. This time around, "Persona 5" is expected to introduce a more nuanced storyline via its cast made up of complex characters.

No specific release date has so far been announced for "Persona 5."

Another RPG set to make its western debut sometime in 2016 is Bandai Namco's "Tales of Berseria," according to Engadget.

"Tales of Berseria" follows a woman named Velvet as she deals with the consequences of having immense power trapped inside her left hand. "Tales of Berseria" is also another entry into the long-running "Tales of" franchise that has spawned many games released for numerous platforms.

No exact release date has so far been announced for "Tales of Berseria."

These are just some examples of the notable games expected to debut in 2016, and there are still numerous other titles set to be released such as "Dark Souls 3 and even "Mass Effect Andromeda," adding even more to the tally of highly anticipated RPGs coming next year.
