Ever since Square Enix announced that they would indeed be developing a full HD remake of the highly popular 1997 role playing video game, "Final Fantasy 7," during the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo event, the company has now been keeping silent regarding its status which has alarmed some fans of the franchise. The absence of updates regarding the upcoming remake has sparked numerous rumors which include reports of possible delays due to the company's new "Final Fantasy" video game.

The latest reports have claimed that Square Enix may be putting the remake project in the freezer as of the moment as they may be putting all of their efforts into the upcoming release of their latest "Final Fantasy" role playing video game, "Final Fantasy 15." Despite the high demand from fans for updates regarding the remake, the company has chosen to keep silent and instead focus much of their marketing efforts into the new installment, scheduled to be released next week on Nov. 29.

The game's director, Tetsuya Nomura, even dodged questions regarding the remake and instead focused on talking about "Final Fantasy 15" during an interview with Dengeki PlayStation. This was also the case with the game's producer, Yoshinori Kitase, during an interview with Game Informer, and with the brand manager, Shinji Hashimoto, during an appearance in the recently held Lucca Comics and Games event.

Several reports have also speculated that the game may further be delayed as Square Enix may have plans to port the game for Sony's latest generation console, the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro. If this would indeed be the case, then Square Enix may need more time to overhaul the game in order for it to run on the new hardware. With the lack of any confirmation from Square Enix themselves, then there is really no way of knowing if the game would indeed be further delayed due to the development of the rumored PlayStation 4 Pro version.
