'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' release date news: gamers to get a big announcement from Square Enix soon

Final Fantasy VII Remake Square-Enix

Square Enix has been silent regarding the upcoming PS4 title "Final Fantasy VII Remake," the official remake of the classic RPG that propelled the company into success back during the PlayStation One era of video games. Now, in an interview with Famitsu (via KH Insider), it has been revealed that they will make a big announcement soon.

According to Tetsuya Nomura, who handles both "Kingdom Hearts III" and the "Final Fantasy VII Remake," the company has decided to avoid giving out small pieces of information in sporadic interviews and trailers. Instead, Nomura claims Square-Enix will likely make a big announcement to showcase the game in one main event.

"We are currently getting specifics ready for the next information release, and just like we've done with KH2.8 this time, we plan to bring a whole lot out in one go instead of dribs and drabs, so please look forward to it. I am looking forward to the reveals myself," Nomura explained in the interview.

This means Square-Enix is likely going to hold an event soon, likely around Q4 this year between the release of "Final Fantasy XV" on Sept. 30 and the release of "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue" by the holidays. Fans speculate this event might include a new set of trailers for the game, the announcement of a release date and if possible a playable demo.

"Final Fantasy XV," the upcoming main game in the franchise which Nomura also directed until the duty was given to Hajime Tabata, will be releasing by the end of September. Given that "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is said to be released in an episodic format, some fans suggest that "Final Fantasy XV" could launch with a demo or the first episode of "Final Fantasy VII Remake."

However, it should be pointed out that the episodes of "Final Fantays VII Remake" are not small games that when added combine into one full game, which is how the TellTale Games projects work. Instead, the episodes are likened as full video game experiences and are compared to the three parts of "Final Fantasy XIII," making it unlikely that an episode will be included with "Final Fantasy XV."
