Developer Square Enix mentioned last year that a "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is in the works. Fans were hopeful that they might experience it this year. However, it is not part of the plan yet. The studio has presented its latest earnings to its investors and showed what games will be released this fiscal year, and "Final Fantasy" game is not one of them.

Comic Book listed the games with their respective release dates. They are as follows:

• "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" - Aug. 23, 2016
• "Final Fantasy XV" - Sept. 30, 2016
• "Rise of the Tomb Raider" - Holiday 2016
• "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" - 2016
• "World of Final Fantasy" - 2016
• "SaGa SCARLET GRAVE" - 2016 (Japan)

When the not-so-good news reached "Final Fantasy" fans, they made it known to the company how much disappointment they have over the news. This prompted Square Enix to issue a statement, telling its fans that the report does not contain all the games that the company plans for release. Nevertheless, the studio is aware what the gamers are requesting ever since, not the "Tomb Raider" game, but the "Final Fantasy VII Remake" one.

Fans are still hoping that some changes may happen within the next few weeks, and some good news might be announced at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, which will happen next month.

Moreover, Yibada reported that according to Square Enix's producer, Yoshinori Kitase, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will come in three episodes and will be released one episode after another. Each episode is a standalone game and will not be a part of a bigger game. Kitase mentioned that fans would have copious amounts of content to absorb before longing for the next episode of the game.

Kitase said, "It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series [...] if we're just looking at each of these parts; one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game."

More information about the game is expected to come in the near future.
