Square Enix is expected to drop new announcements about the development of its upcoming video game "Final Fantasy VII Remake" during the first quarter of 2018. Square Enix teamed up with Universal Studios Japan (USJ) for a special "Final Fantasy VII Remake" project.

According to reports, president and CEO of Square Enix, Yosuke Matsuda, said the video game company will drop a big announcement about "Final Fantasy VII Remake." Matsuda shared that the news might be released in the middle of April 2018 until the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event in June 2018.

Many "Final Fantasy" fans are hoping for the announcement to include the official release date of the game. Square Enix did not release much information about the video game and its development this year.

The latest visual update for the video game was released by USJ. The theme park worked with Square Enix to bring a virtual reality attraction inspired by "Final Fantasy VII Remake." A 15-second video was released by USJ to highlight the Final Fantasy XR Ride. The video features "Final Fantasy VII Remake's" main protagonist, Cloud, and its main antagonist, Sephiroth. The video is also the first time Sephiroth is included in any feature video of the upcoming video game. The video also shows a couple of Chocobos running around. The XR Ride will be launched on Jan. 19, 2018.

In other news, the coming year will be a big one for Square Enix. Other than "Final Fantasy VII Remake," gamers are also looking forward to the release of the adventure fantasy video game "Kingdom Hearts 3." The giant video game company will welcome 2018 with two video game releases in January next year. The Japanese role-playing video game "Lost Sphear" will come out on Jan. 23, 2018 and the fighting video game "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" on Jan. 30, 2018.
