'Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn' patch 3.1 details emerge

The Void Ark in "Final Fantasy XIV."Square Enix

Game developer Square Enix continues to update "Final Fantasy XIV." Patch 3.1 is coming and details were elaborately discussed during the official Square Enix "Letter from the Producer" broadcasts.

According to the broadcasts, the patch will add new main story quests that will further the content in the game, as well as a sidequest that involves the Saint Endalim Scholasticate. There will also be new beast tribe quests that will feature the Vanu Vanu.

Bigger additions, however, are the two big dungeons and the 24-man raid. The Void Ark raid refers to the large airship that gamers may have noticed in the newest areas added to the game. The raid will play out like other Crystal Tower raids.

The two dungeons are the Saint Mocianne Arboretum and the Pharos Sirus Hard Mode. As reported by RPGFan, the latter dungeon may be the most difficult 4-man content seen in the game thus far since the original Pharos Sirus dungeon was added.

A new primal will also be included in the patch, although the producers have not yet given any details. Time Trials will make a comeback, as well as a new weapon upgrade system. There will also be adjustments to the Land and Housing features, and there will be a feature to make existing ground mounts into flying mounts.

Airship Exploration will finally be implemented in the game. This is a feature that will allow Free Companies to travel to other floating continents to hunt down monsters.

One of the other biggest additions is the inclusion of the "Lord of Vermillion" mini-game to the Golden Saucer. This mini-game plays out like an RTS where players control a group of critters and will use them to fight the critters of opposing players.

No official release date for the patch has been released but it is expected to be rolled out soon as the 2-year anniversary celebration of "Final Fantasy XIV" ends.
