Square-Enix continues to refine the highly-praised MMORPG, "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn." The game saw the launch of the "Heavensward" expansion, and the developers have now announced a brand new DLC expansion called "Stormblood."

According to a report by Gamespot, the details were first revealed during the game's Fan Festival held in Las Vegas. During the presentation, director Naoki Yoshida showcased the first trailer and gave updates for the upcoming patch 4.0 update, as well as the first few details regarding the "Stormblood" DLC.

Yoshida announced that the DLC would be set in a place called Ala Mhigo, and the main antagonist will be known as Zenos. He also promised that the expansion would be as big and filled with content as a full game. He announced that a new residential area was being added, but he did not share its name because it was tied to the expansion's main storyline.

Along with the update 4.0, the inventory is being extensively revamped, and the level cap will be raised from 60 to 70. Combat is also being reworked, and the entire skill system is going to be revamped from the ground up. Yoshida reveals they will be reassessed and re-categorized as roles instead of consuming the same space for classes.

Kotaku reports that the DLC expansion will be adding the Monk class to the game. However, in the official trailer, the monk is also seen fighting a woman clad in red garments. She is speculated to represent either the Dancer class or the Red Mage class. Given how the video shows her doing cartwheels and fighting with her fists, she is more likely a female Monk or a Dancer.

It was also confirmed that PS3 support for "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" will end.

No official release date has been announced, but it was confirmed that it is scheduled for a summer 2017 release. Yoshida confirmed this was just an introduction and that more details will be shared later on.
