The new Mac client for "Final Fantasy" is proving problematic for players thanks to a number of different issues.

Players who have already experienced gaming with the new Mac client have commented on its performance by saying it is far worse than what they have previously gotten used to.

Players, in particular, have been pointing to the worsening frame rate as well as issues loading assets that frequently pop up with the Mac client as evidence that the new offering is less than what they expected, according to Kotaku.

"Final Fantasy XIV" players who have used the Mac client are now populating forums for the game to say that the new feature has made the game borderline unplayable, and they are also requesting refunds for their purchases.

"Final Fantasy XIV" lead programmer Hideyuki Kasuga has appeared in the forums for the game to offer an explanation for why the Mac client has underperformed thus far. Kasuga said the problems are due to the method used to create the Mac client.

It is worth noting that the reception of the "Final Fantasy XIV" Mac client has not been entirely negative.

According to Gameranx, some players who have the benefit of utilizing updated systems for playing the game have reported no issues with the client thus far. They have also said that the game runs smoothly on the new client though older systems still present the same problems.

The Mac client for "Final Fantasy XIV" was released right around the same time as the "Heavensward" expansion pack for the game, prompting some to speculate that the client was rushed in order to extract as much money from players as possible.

The people behind the game are currently looking into possible solutions which could help the game run more smoothly using the Mac client, however, Kasuga himself has admitted that the Mac version will be inferior to the Windows version when similar equipment is being used.
