During the most recent "Final Fantasy XIV - Letter from the Producer Live," details of the upcoming patch 3.3 was discussed in-depth by producer Naoki Yoshida. The full details of the upcoming patch can also be viewed on the game's official forum and Yoshida announced that the patch will launch on Tuesday, June 7.

One of the first major surprises that the patch will introduce is a new trial battle that will be called "The Final Steps of Faith" and will see up to eight players go up against Nidhogg. However, this will be a significantly more powerful version as Nidhogg now has both eyes and has also acquired the Azure Dragoon's powers. 

There will be two versions of this fight. One will be a story mode version and then there will be a more difficult extreme mode version. Both versions will come with brand new item and weapon drops although the exact level of these new drops has not been revealed. 

Another new feature is the Aquapolis mini dungeon. Once a player completes a Dragonskin map, there will be a 20 percent chance of a portal opening, leading to the Aquapolis dungeon. Players will need to kill monsters in a room and open the treasure chest. 

However, there is a high chance of not completing the dungeon. Once the room has been cleared, players will need to choose between several doors in order to advance into the dungeons. If they pick the wrong door they are booted out of the Aquapolis and must try from the very start the next time they can get a portal open.

Raid Finder, new Frontlines such as Shatter and the Anima Weapon quest will also be implemented in patch 3.3. The last and the biggest addition is the Moogle tribe quest line. Much like the Ixali quests from patch 2.5, will focus primarily on crafting to raise crafters from level 50 to 60. The quest's story will focus on building a new home for Moogles.

As for the release of Final Fantasy XV, the release date has reportedly been set back to September 30 and what's worse, it may be a no show at this year's E3.
