Fans were already expecting some more information about the upcoming installment in the long-running "Final Fantasy" series, and developer Square Enix did not disappoint. At this year's Tokyo Game Show held last week, the company spilled some additional details about "Final Fantasy XV." 

The most noted reveal about the upcoming title was the background of two main participants in the story, Regis and Luna.

Regis is the king of Lucis and the father of Noctis. He played a central role in foiling the attempt of the Niflheim Empire at world domination. According to IGN, game director Hajime Tabata revealed during the Active Time Report that Regis is instrumental in the Kingdom of Lucis' magical barrier, since, as king, he is also the current guardian of the crystal. Much like his son, Regis can also "wield weapons from thin air," and was revealed to have fought alongside Cid and General Cor. However, Regis was also shown as aging much faster than average due to energy depletion in maintaining the shield that protects the kingdom.

Tabata also revealed that Noctis' mother, the queen, died when he was still an infant.

Meanwhile, Square Enix' TGS participation also yielded information about another character teased in gameplay footages – Lunafreya. According to the PlayStationLifestyle notes, Lunafreya, or Luna as Noctis calls her, is an oracle who can speak to the gods. She is also the youngest to hold the esteemed position.

Luna lives in Niflheim-controlled Tenebrae and will play a central role in Noctis' story.

Showing some title artworks, Tabata showcased one where Luna is riding in a Chocobo alongside a dark-haired woman. The game director then revealed that the woman is Gentiana, and she will also play a major role in the upcoming title.

Aside from character details, it was also revealed during the Tokyo Game Show that in the title, players can now ride on Chocobos, and there would also be a fishing mini-game where the catch will provide stat boosts for party members.
