'Final Fantasy XV' news: Director discusses DLC and PC version details

Final Fantasy XV Square-Enix

"Final  Fantasy XV" is expected to be launched on Sept. 30 this year but only for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. In a recent interview with JeuxVideo (via Dual Shockers) director Hajime Tabata has revealed that the developers are looking into a PC version of the game and that they will announce their DLC plans later this summer.

Tabata explains that the goal is to make DLC unlike any other. He continues to state that they want to make extraordinary DLC content that will engage the player and prolong their "pleasure with the game." One of the main goals is to make DLC content that players will be enthusiastic about.

One of their main concerns at the moment, however, is optimizing the game in order to address the dropping frame rate that some players have thus experienced in the Platinum Demo. "Final Fantasy XV" still experiences several frame rate drops instead of staying at a consistent 60 frames per second.

In regards to a PC version, Tabata explained that a port would not be ready to launch simultaneously with the console release. He further explains that the goal is to make a version of the game that makes good use of the extra power that a powerful PC rig can provide and to implement features that the limited technology of consoles could not handle.

This indicates that the PC version will have to be made from scratch instead of simply porting the console version to the PC. While this means a PC version will take a longer time to release, it also means the PC version will likely have better graphics, improved mechanics and new content that could not be fitted into the console version.

"Final Fantasy XV" will be released for consoles on Sept. 30 and will be accompanied by a full-length feature film, as well as an anime series that further expand its story.
