Square Enix has finally unveiled the release details of "Final Fantasy XV," 10 years after the game was announced.

The game studio conducted a live-streamed event called "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV" at the iconic Shrine Auditorium in Hollywood, California Wednesday, where the release date and other information about the highly anticipated "Final Fantasy" installment were revealed.

During the event, players found out that the game will be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 30. The announcement came with the release of the "Platinum Demo" that can now be downloaded on both gaming consoles, as well as a new teaser which features a soundtrack performed by Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine.

The free demo allows players to take on the role of "Final Fantasy XV" protagonist Noctis. But it will take them back to the time when Noctis was just a child. However, the game studio said that the unique storyline of the demo will not be included in the game's final version.

At the event, it was also mentioned that "Final Fantasy XV" will have its own full-length movie titled "Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV," starring "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul as well as Lena Headey and Sean Bean from "Game of Thrones." The film is reportedly helmed by long-time "Final Fantasy" director and animator Takeshi Nozue.

Meanwhile, game director Hajime Tabata explained to Engadget why they are not working on a PC version of the game despite the strong clamor from fans.

"We had to focus on the console version and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles," the game director explained. "Once that's done, then we will definitely take a good, hard look at PC and what we need to do, and consider all our options. But right now we aren't decided, we're still considering a lot of things."
