During the "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV" event, Square-Enix announced that "Final Fantasy XV" will be launching globally this Sept. 30 for the PS4 and Xbox One. However, the Gamestop home page featured an ad stating the game will be released for the PC as well. Square-Enix has since responded, revealing this to be a mistake.

According to a report from Dual Shockers, Square-Enix has reached out and confirmed that the PC listing was an error and that the company has never made any official announcements regarding the game's availability for the PC market. 

In a separate report that followed, director Hajime Tabata revealed that the possibility of a PC release is not entirely out of the question. However, a PC release will not occur during or immediately after the launch of "Final Fantasy XV" for the PS4 and Xbox One. 

Tabata revealed that a PC version may be considered some time after and that the potential PC port will keep the game's higher-end specs in mind, guaranteeing that if a PC version gets released, it will be as beautiful if not more so than its console counter-parts.

It is important to note that "Final Fantasy XIII" was released for consoles back in 2010 but did not see a proper PC port until 2014. Other recent games in the franchise such as "Final Fantasy X" and "Final Fantasy XII" have yet to be released for the PC and the promised PC port of "Final Fantasy IX" has yet to be released.

With the aforementioned titles taking months and years to launch on the PC, it is likely that "Final Fantasy XV" on the PC will not launch until late 2017 or even beyond that unless Tabata and the rest of Square-Enix immediately make it one of their top priorities., which at the moment is not.

"Final Fantasy XV" will be released for the PS4 and Xbox One this Sept. 30.
