Carter (Kathryn Prescott) and Taylor's (Anna Jacoby-Heron) relationship has always been strained, but when MTV decides to renew the series "Finding Carter," viewers will see the tension between them ramp up even more.

During the season 2 finale, Max (Alex Saxon) decided to turn himself in for the accidental killing of Jared (Jackson Rathbone). At first, it was Lori (Milena Govich) who admitted to the crime and got sent to jail. But when things did not add up, Carter began suspecting that Lori was not the one who hit her ex-boyfriend in the head with a bottle, which eventually led to his death. Max then confessed he was the one who committed the deed. He said he just snapped when he saw Jared hurting Carter in the bar.

Taylor was all for Lori paying for the crime, although her mother did it to compensate for all her shortcomings to her, Carter, and Max. Carter saw it differently, telling Max he should not let the older woman take the blame for something she did not commit. Executive producer Emily Whitesell told The Hollywood Reporter that this difference of opinion would ultimately widen the gap between the two, more so when Taylor sees how Max is suffering from his incarceration.

"They're incredibly close but they have all kinds of baggage between them, especially where Max is concerned. It would be interesting to delve into that between the two of them and give us a way to complicate their relationship," she said.

Meanwhile, the finale also revealed that Crash (Caleb Ruminer) lied to Carter that he has a new girlfriend. It was quite obvious that he has still not gotten over her and just wanted to make her jealous. It was actually he who told Max that Carter was on her way to see Jared, hence Max knew where to find her. Whitesell said that viewers would see more of the two in season 3.

"Who Crash has become is the ideal person she would want to love. They have a very deep bond and I'd love to play with what that means to her moving forward," the executive producer explained.

MTV has yet to renew "Finding Carter" for season 3. If it does, viewers can expect the first episode to air 2016.
