"Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA" will come to PC in 2018.

A few days ago, "Total War" developer The Creative Assembly has already revealed the name of the first installment of the "Total War" spinoff series, called "A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia." The new game will focus on the events transpired after the Viking Invasion of Britain, and will focus more specifically on that specific moment in history, rather than the usual span of historical eras in previous "Total War" games.

"It is 878 AD, and the Viking Invasion of Britain is over," read the game's official description. "The Norse warlords are firmly established, but the ambitious kings of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales have aspirations of their own – not least the great King Alfred of Wessex. Britannia is a furnace of possibilities, from which the template for modern Britain will be forged, across the most detailed Total War campaign map ever made."

A trailer was released alongside the announcement, although no sneak peek of the gameplay was shown. Instead, the trailer focused on the story that players will delve into the game – the aftermath of the Viking Invasion in Britain.

Developers of the game also noted how the new installment will feature the most detailed "Total War" map to date. This is because, unlike previous versions whose campaign maps spanned across countries, "A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia" focuses on one area alone. Thus, more details can be squeezed and more area choices can be governed as every inch of land is not hidden by the size of the empire.

This does not mean the map is smaller though. Although in theory, the geographical aspect of the map is slightly diminished in size, it is still a big area when it comes to how much of it is directly playable. The map is composed of all the British Isles, as the Norse invaders try to defend their new home.

"A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia" already has its Steam page, although no additional information of the game is listed, other than an expanded description. The game will be released on PC in 2018.
