'Five Nights at Freddy's 4' news: New teaser features Nightmare Foxy

Fans have been clamoring for updates and teasers for the upcoming fourth installment in the hugely popular "Five Nights at Freddy's" game franchise, and creator Scott Cawthon did not disappoint.

The new teaser image that Cawthon posted on the official game site heavily hints that a favorite character might indeed make it again on the upcoming title. The image shows series character Nightmare Foxy in all his red-hued horrifying glory, with his jaws open and full of razor-sharp, horror prompting teeth. The animatronic is also pictured with his trademark pirate hook on the right hand side.

Fans of the franchise are also speculating that the next game might present some scenes from the past, if not a prequel altogether, since Foxy is not wearing his signature eye patch. However, observers note that the absence of the eye patch might not be that important, as Nightmare Foxy is known to remove it from time to time.

The image also seems to confirm the release date of Oct. 31, which was already intimated by Cawthon on a previous announcement. The date is visible on the picture's left corner.

Other "Five Nights at Freddy's" fans also speculate on a theory that since the fourth installment is touted as the last game in the series, some features might make it back. For example, Cawthon and his team might design it so that the doors and ventilation system can again be controlled, along with the amount of illumination for the animatronics' eyes.

In the first "Five Nights at Freddy's" and subsequent releases, fans observed that the eye that has more illumination coincides with the door through which the animatronic comes in. For Nightmare Freddy, who was designed with no eye illumination, a simpler explanation is offered – he can come and kill from either door.
